Message from Father Tom:
Dear Parish Family
Thirty years ago, today, on the morning of January 19, 1987, I left my family and home and began my steps on the journey which brought me to the Holy Cross Seminary. Building upon the foundation from my home and the Church I grew up in, I studied diligently to learn all that I could with the hope and prayer that “one day” I would be worthy to serve the Lord’s people in a parish.
Finishing my studies, and returning to my home, I soon contacted the Metropolis of Chicago to seek a place to serve in God’s Vineyard. Then, came a call from Father Byron and my life changed. I soon travelled to Chicago, saw things with big eyes, but never thought that I would be given the blessing of serving at this incredible Parish. And now over 18 years later, I bring myself to those days that I began here in July 1998 and it is impossible to count all the magnificent blessings.
With deep gratitude, I wish to thank all of our dear parishioners over the years who have been my family and friends and have been there to support my efforts in serving here. I want to especially express my thanks to all those who have reached out to me and have congratulated me on my assignment to Pastor of Saints Constantine and Helen as of January 1st and the blessing of becoming an Archimandrite on January 6th.
With humility and a deep commitment to hard work and obedience to His word, I accept this challenge and will do everything in my power with God’s help to fulfill the confidence that has been placed in me by the Hierarchs, Parish Leadership and our dear Parishioners. This is an incredible responsibility, I take it as a holy and solemn command and will pray to always be doing my best for our Parish in His service.
With deep respect and appreciation for all your prayers!
“It is with great joy to share the news that His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago has assigned Fr. Tom De Medeiros as our new Proistamenos and Parish Priest. (PANTA AXIOS)
