ST. HELEN WOMEN’S PHILOPTOCHOS The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society is an organization unique to the Greek Orthodox Church. It is the largest women’s organization in the United States and the second largest women’s religious philanthropic organization in the world. Each Greek Orthodox Church has a Philoptochos chapter that contributes to charities and responds to disasters on local, national and international levels. For 94 years, our St. Helen Women’s Philoptochos has assisted the poor, the victims of disease, disasters, and other catastrophic events. Additionally, we support other charitable organizations. As Philoptochos members, we are able to fulfill our mission by virtue of the women who support us...our members. St. Helen supports the many activities of the parish both through member volunteer time as well as financial means. We encourage all women of our parish, over 18 years of age, to become members. We meet monthly from September thru May. Please contact us for additional information. |

A message from the Christianiki Philoxenia parishes to all participants and attendees…
“Our monthly events begin in September. Due to the pandemic, all events are postponed until we can all meet safely. Meanwhile, we pray for everyone’s safety and wellbeing.”
Christianiki Philoxenia was founded in 2010 and is hosted by five parishes on the Southwest side of Chicago including: SS. Constantine and Helen Church, Palos Hills; IL, St. Spyridon, Palos Heights, IL; St. Nicholas, Oak Lawn, IL; Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Homer Glen, IL; Holy Cross, Justice, IL.
Their mission: “We will honor our community of seniors with church service and hospitality filled with lunch, education, and entertainment to gather and meet with old and new friends for conversation, fellowship, and comfort.”

Summer 2020 “Feed the Hungry”
Nothing stops the St. Constantine & Helen Philoptochos Members of Palos Hills, IL from helping their communities! During our summer pandemic crisis, with their masks and careful sanitizing procedures, our members distributed bagged lunches and bottles of water to “very appreciative” homeless and hungry members in the downtown Chicago streets as part of our “Feed the Hungry” program. We are blessed to have dedicated members who always assist and support! Thank you, always.
