Contact: Christopher Crosby at 708-974-3400.
Participation open to: Boys age 7-12 years old and Girls age 7-13 years old.
Games are held: Games played on a 12-game per season schedule. Game days are Friday nights, from mid-October tryouts until the week before Lent begins. (The schedule depends upon the beginning of Lent.) Coaches determine the practice dates. The coaches and assistant coaches beginning in September, have two pre-season meetings, followed by meeting at the half-point of the season or a meeting preceding the playoff games.
Purpose: To learn the virtues or good teamwork, as well as winning and losing well, in an atmosphere of fun and fellowship in Christ.
Activities: J.O.Y. Basketball is a unique intra-mural league which allows all children interested in playing basketball the ability to do so. “Try outs” are held merely to divide talents evenly. Also, every child is guaranteed to play at least one full quarter per game and oftentimes it may be more. All games are professionally refereed. An awards and party program is held at the end of the season.
